Humphrey, New York
Take Rt 98 to Golden Hill Road. West on Golden Hill Road to the top of the hill and the intersection with Fire Lane Road.
Golden Hill State Forest is one of those seldom used gems in western New York. I have hiked this trail several times and have never tired of it. Neither have I ever run into any other hikers or bikers on the trail. I won’t be on this hike because I’ll be recovering from hip replacement surgery but hopefully a group of BHC members will get together and enjoy a day in the woods. If anyone wants to be an organizer for this hike please email me.
This hike will be 6.5 miles on the mountain bike-hiking trail that is maintained by the WNYMBA. You will park at the lot at the intersection of Golden Hill Road and Fire Lane Road, walk a short distance down Fire Lane Road to the start of the trail, then follow the trail in a 7.2 mile loop that will bring you back to Fire Lane Road.
