    Golden Hill State Forest

    Humphrey, New York

  • Take Rt 98 to Golden Hill Road. West on Golden Hill Road to the top of the hill and the intersection with Fire Lane Road.
  • Golden Hill State Forest is one of those seldom used gems in western New York. I have hiked this trail several times and have never tired of it. Neither have I ever run into any other hikers or bikers on the trail.  I won’t be on this hike because I’ll be recovering from hip replacement surgery but hopefully a group of BHC members will get together and enjoy a day in the woods.  If anyone wants to be an organizer for this hike please email me.
This hike will be 6.5 miles on the mountain bike-hiking trail that is maintained by the WNYMBA. You will park at the lot at the intersection of Golden Hill Road and Fire Lane Road, walk a short distance down Fire Lane Road to the start of the trail, then follow the trail in a 7.2 mile loop that will bring you back to Fire Lane Road.
