9674 Foote Road, Glenwood, NY
Enter the Sprague Brook Park from Foote Road. Make your first left and follow the road to the parking lot that is just past the entrance to the park recreation hall
This is an in-and-out hike on the west side of Sprague Brook Creek. I’ve hiked the entire loop in both directions several times and I can assure you that the trail looks entirely different in the opposite direction. So you will not be bored coming back the way you went in. In fact, you’ll see a lot of things you missed on the way in.
I will not be on this hike because of my hp replacement surgery. If anyone would like organize the hike please let me know by email. Otherwise, just meet up at the parking lot and go for a walk in the woods.
This hike starts at the large parking lot that is just past the entrance to the casino (it is not a real casino but rather just a park recreation hall). It is a short walk (about 900 feet) to the trail head that is just past bridge over the creek and a bit up the hill.
The orange trail on the maps below shows the longest route (3.25 miles one-way). The white trail is a bit shorter (3 miles one way). Thus, the total mileage is between 6 and 6.5 miles.
You can lengthen the hike by another mile by doing the loop hike around the upper pond (shown in blue on the All Trails link to the G4Map) or 1.5 miles by doing the trail in the south west corner of the park (also shown in blue on the All Trails link to the G4Map.)
